Cuboid Notch
A recess under the cuboid that relieves pressure and supports cuboid syndrome or a prominent lateral midfoot.
How it works
A recess under the cuboid that takes direct pressure off the lateral midfoot. Cuboid syndrome and lateral midfoot overload flare when the shell pushes back exactly where it hurts; the notch removes that contact while the surrounding shell keeps the lateral column supported.
The walls of the recess are feathered into the lateral arch, so relief in one spot never turns into instability around it.
When to prescribe it
- Cuboid syndrome and post-manipulation soreness
- A prominent cuboid in cavus or supinated feet
- Lateral midfoot pain under firm shells
- Peroneal (cuboid groove) tenderness
- Lateral column overload with a focal pressure point
