Toe Bar & Toe Crest

A raised crest under the lesser toes that supports flexible hammer or claw toes and restores purchase at toe-off.

Supports the lesser toes
Reduces clawing
Placed just behind the toes

How it works

A toe crest (toe bar) is a raised ridge that sits in the sulcus just behind the lesser toes. Flexible hammer and claw toes lose their grip on the ground; the crest fills the space under the buckled digits, gives them something to bear on, and restores purchase at toe-off.

Supporting the toes from beneath also unloads their tips, where the calluses form, and slows the daily reinforcement of the deformity.

When to prescribe it

  • Flexible hammer or claw toes
  • Loss of toe purchase in propulsion
  • Distal tip callosities of the lesser toes
  • Retracted digits after neuromuscular change
  • An adjunct to met pads in mixed forefoot pain

How we build it

The crest is positioned in the sulcus from the scan and your landmarks, height to your Rx, blended into a full-length top so it supports the toes without splaying them.
