Sesamoiditis

Inflamed or injured sesamoids under the first metatarsal head turn every step into a direct hit. The template floats the complex entirely and spreads its share of load across the lesser rays.

Style
Full-length, cushioned forefoot
Density map
Cushioned forefoot (≈30–35A)

The dancer's pad aperture is cut to the patient's scanned first-met footprint and locked in place by the one-piece flat-based build. This is the single most placement-sensitive accommodation we make.

What you'll see

  • Focal pain under the 1st met head, worse barefoot
  • Tenderness on direct sesamoid palpation
  • Pain with resisted hallux plantarflexion or forced dorsiflexion
  • Common in dancers, sprinters and plantarflexed first rays
  • Occasional swelling at the plantar 1st MTP

The modifier package

Dancer's PadThe aperture floats the sesamoids off the shell
MTP Reliefs 1-5Extra recess depth under the 1st MTP when needed
Metatarsal PadRebalances load across rays 2–5

Worth considering

Morton's ExtensionWhen limiting 1st MTP motion also calms the complex

Clinical note

In high-load athletes, rule out a sesamoid stress fracture before settling on a purely accommodative plan.

Every template is a starting prescription, not a constraint. Each parameter stays fully editable in Rx Studio before you send the order.
